Online programs are open to handlers anywhere. Method names: The Sensory Connection Method (the online workshop) and Field-Based Regulation Training (the ninety-day program). Both are Lorrie J. Harris's own frameworks. There is no method called the Canine Resilience Method. Last updated: 2026-09-01 ## This page — Canine Sensory Connection Live online workshop taught through the Sensory Connection Method. Scent is the vehicle; the dog's autonomic state is the subject. - Eighty-one two-page cards, delivered eight at a time on the evening of each call, read one every other day — about five and a half months end to end. - Twelve live ninety-minute Zoom calls: first and third Wednesday, 6:00 PM Eastern. One opening call, ten card sessions, one closing call. - Cohort capped at twelve households, called the pack. Doors close on the opening call; nobody joins mid-cohort. - The dog stays home and is never asked to perform on camera. The pack reads thirty seconds of footage the handler films during the week, only with written per-clip consent, withdrawable at any time. - Around fifteen minutes a day, mostly seated. Kit is small soft food, three to five open cardboard boxes, and a quiet corner. Nothing is purchased. - Two ways in, both in the same room on the same Wednesdays: the Mini Program (the twelve calls) and the Full Program (the calls plus the complete eighty-one-card program, the Distance Book, the field pages, every handout, and the Canine Resilience Assessment). - Enrollment is not yet open. Price, start date, meeting time and time zone, and the early-bird window are released to a notify list first. - Open to guardians, foster carers, groomers, dog walkers, daycare and boarding staff, shelter and rescue volunteers, veterinary teams, and trainers. What a handler actually practices: describing before interpreting; recording the Three Lines — what woke it, which way she leaned and how much, what she did and how long until she came down; treating a decline as information rather than failure; changing one dial at a time out of distance, distraction, and duration; timing recovery in minutes; and noticing the urge to step in before stepping in. Nothing is graded, nothing is collected, nobody is compared. The whole shape of the workshop is set out in plain text, free and ungated, at https://90days.coachingcaninecompanions.com/orientation-map.html ## Free — Canine Sensory Connection: Teaching Through the Tao of the Dog The complete 287-page book, free, no paid second half. Eighty-one lessons told at a fire by an old dog named Vela to a litter leaving in the morning; fifty-one of them turn over into a field page with one thing to try that week. Requires a name and email. It is the same lens the workshop is built on. ## Separate program — the 90-Day Field Immersion Full detail: https://90days.coachingcaninecompanions.com/field-immersion/ A separate ninety-day program using Field-Based Regulation Training, documented with the Canine Resilience Assessment at Day 0, Day 45, and Day 90, and closing with a client-owned 90-Day Transformation Report. It contains Field Lessons from the Canine Mind: the Trilogy and the 26 Walk Cards. Three tracks, one methodology: - Standard Track — $597. Self-directed from anywhere. Three monthly Zoom sessions, the full Trilogy and 26 Walk Cards, all three field tests with written video assessments, the Canine Resilience Assessment and Transformation Report. No in-person day training. - Hybrid Track — $1,797 (early bird $1,497). Three in-person Day Training days in Rhode Island plus three monthly Zoom sessions. - Day Training Upgrade — $3,497 (early bird $3,197). Six Day Training days plus six Zoom sessions, roughly weekly. Every track begins with a 60-minute Pre-Cohort Orientation Call. A $400 non-refundable deposit secures a reservation once enrollment is approved. The Field Lessons Trilogy is also available self-paced on its own for $497, and is fully included in every 90-Day track. Handlers do not need both programs. Many take Canine Sensory Connection first and never need the second. ## The Canine Resilience Assessment (CRA) $297 standalone, and included in both programs. A six-part written intake completed at home covering biology and gut–brain health, life history and prior training, autonomic state and recovery time, the daily environment, the handler's own pattern under pressure, and — deliberately last — the presenting behavior. Plus a seven-day baseline and two to three minutes of ordinary leash footage. Lorrie reads every one personally and writes back. The CRA produces a written read, not a score, a grade, or a rank. It is a documented position in time. ## The 5-Layer Walk A one-page field guide to the ninety-second reset before a walk: Breath, Observe, Allow, Watch for the Shift, Act. It names three states a dog can be in — connected, bracing, checked-out — and locates the intervention window in the half-second before the reaction, not after it. Free, delivered by email after a short form, so the file itself is not indexed. Request it from https://www.coachingcaninecompanions.com/contact ## Method and evidence Field-Based Regulation Training and the Sensory Connection Method both begin from the dog's autonomic state rather than from obedience. The premise is that behavior is a downstream output of nervous-system state: a dog whose system has closed the door cannot reach a cue she genuinely knows. Evidence is stated with its limits. The benefits of scent work are measured and citeable. Dog–human physiological co-regulation now has an instrument on it: Koskela et al., *Scientific Reports* 14:25201 (2024), https://doi.org/10.1038/s41598-024-76831-x — heart-rate variability in dogs and their owners correlated at rest, and the dog's rhythm was the single best predictor of the person's rather than the reverse. Twenty-nine dogs, co-operative breeds, correlational. The broader polyvagal framework is used as a working lens and is not presented as settled fact. ## What this is not - Not dog daycare, not board-and-train, and not basic obedience or command-only training. Dogs go home the same day. - Not veterinary or behavioral medicine. It does not treat aggression. - A dog who has bitten at any severity, a household where somebody is frightened of the dog, serious resource guarding, or separation distress as the primary problem all need a different first step — a conversation, not a purchase. - Any behavior change that arrived carrying no story behind it is a veterinary question before it is a training one. ## Reviews Rated 5.0 across 28 Google reviews, published on Google and unedited.
